CLEANCAB CO₂ Verification Procedure
Following installation, it is considered best practice to perform a CO₂ gain verification. This procedure ensures that the CO₂ alarm does not activate after the operator has occupied the cabin for an extended period. Note the CO2 sensor is a precision meter do not drop the unit or expose to chemicals.
Test 1:
Initial Ambient Check:
Operate the machine with the air conditioning system set to a minimum of fanspeed 2.
Ensure all doors are closed and that no operator is present in the cabin.
Allow the system to run for 5–10 minutes.
The CO₂ reading should reflect ambient levels, typically between 400 ppm and600 ppm.
If the CO₂ level exceeds this range, assess the surrounding environment.Elevated ambient CO₂ may result from a workshop setting; if so, relocate themachine to an open area and repeat the measurement.
Alternatively, elevated readings may be caused by the exhaust being positionedtoo close to the pressuriser intake. Relocate the pressuriser unit location asnecessary and retest.
2. Operator Presence Test:
If ambient CO₂ levels are within the acceptable range, proceed by having anindividual occupy the cabin for 15 minutes.
Monitor and record the CO₂ levels during this period.
The CO₂ concentration will rise but should stabilize at no more than 400 ppmabove the ambient level and should not exceed a total of 900–1000 ppm.
3. Troubleshooting Elevated CO₂:
If CO₂ levels are excessively high, check the pressuriser fan speed. If the fanoperates below 20% to maintain the target pressure, elevated CO₂ accumulationis likely.
In such cases, adjust the target cabin pressure to 50–70 Pa and repeat the test.
If the issue persists and the fan speed is above 20%, verify the location of thesensor box. Improper placement can result in inaccurate readings. Relocate thesensor box to a more ventilated area within the cabin, avoiding direct airflow from vents. The optimal position is near the recirculation filter.
